The Bread of the Mighty Food Bank is a non-profit organization that coordinates the acquisition and distribution of food and basic essentials to non-profit programs that provide for the needy. We are part of America's Second Harvest, the largest food recovery and rescue organization in the United States. - What we do
The Bread of the Mighty Food Bank serves as a warehouse and distribution center for food we aquire from retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and through cash purchases.We also accept tax-deductible donations of cash and food from individuals, business organizations and foundations.
We have over 130 non-profit member organizations that perform the actual distribution of food to the needy. We serve a five-county area: Alachua, Dixie, Gilchrist, Layfayette and Levy Counties.
- Who Shops with us
Churches, charitable organizations, social service organizations and other non-profit agencies (incorporated not for profit organizations serving the hungry and needy) share food and basic essentials from Bread of the Mighty Food Bank and give to individuals and families they identify as needing assistance. Each agency that shops with us establishes its own eligibility guidelines for the individuals it serves.
