Bread of the Mighty Food Bank is part of America's Second Harvest, the largest food recovery and rescue organization in the United States. we are a warehouse that coordinates the acquisition and distribution of food and basic essentials to non-profit organizations that provide for the needy. We have been in operation in Gainesville since 1987.We are currently updating our webpage so please bear with us as we strive to serve the commmunity in a greater way.

A common quarter will show that our network of Agencies serve approxiamtely 30,000 people consisting of elderly (4,500), Female Head of Households (+3,000), Adults (+12,700), Children (+8,500), and infants (+600), and feed over 40,000 people throughout the months. Hundreds recieved USDA commodities through our USDA distribution sites throughout the counties. The numbers do change, but our hearts desire to serve the needy will not. Our annual food distibution approaches 2,000,000 pounds of food, which equates to 1,500,000 meals. As the only authorized USDA distributor in this area, the Food Bank distributes USDA food in the five county area at no cost to recipients. The Food Bank instituted food distributions targeting the elderly in our community in partnership with Gainesville Housing Authority, thus far over 20,000 pounds of food have been distributed to the elderly in several residential communities. | Thank you to all those who participated in winter food drives...
